US Senator. From 1977 until 1995, he served the state of Wyoming in the US Senate. Raised in Wyoming, he graduated from Yale University in 1954 and held the occupation of cattle rancher. He served with the US Army from 1955 until 1957 and initiated his political career, serving as a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1969 until 1972. He was a member of Wyoming's State Senate from 1973 until his election to the US Senate in 1976. During his tenure in Washington, Wallop was a proponent of President Reagan's initiative of the "Star Wars" space defense program and for his strong efforts for an anti-communist policy in Central America.
