You are a hero of mine, for your leadership and integrity in dealing with Stalinist aggression against Finland, but maintaining independence of action from the Nazis. You are the only person who "arrested" Himmler in World War II. Bravo!

My deepest respect and admiration for the Marshal of Finland, who saved his Scandinavian countries from bolshevism. Mannerheim is the greatest name of Scandinavian history in the 20th century.

A Great Commander, who is not always well known outside of Finnland. He succeeded doing the impossible in one of the most difficult situations. He led the sole democracy under the Axis powers, but only was their ally because he was abandoned by the West and attacked repeatedly by Russia and had to seek military assistance to defend Finland. He never agreed to invade Russian territory and succeeded in getting additional miltary material from Germany to defend Finland against the last attempt by the Russians in 1944-1945 to take Finland. The brave fighting of the Finnish soldier under Mannerheim's leadership succeeded in doing the impossible of preventing the Soviets from conquering Finland and he was able to expel the remnants of the Wehrmacht. Finland's fragile independence was secured until the fall of the Soviet Union. We salute you Field Marshall Mannerheim! Job well done!

General Mannerheim,
You were an outstanding military officer, a true hero of Finland!! You were able to show Stalin a thing or two about how to fight. He was able to overwhelm your brave forces only by sheer numbers, definitely not the quality of his troops. It is because of you that Finland exists as a free country today. God bless you Sir!! Rest in peace!!

General Mannerheim,
You & your nation showed the world a supreme example of stolid courage against overwhelming odds. The Russians didn't know what hit them when they tried marching into Finland. You embodied the Finnish trait known as "sisu" - what we in America would probably refer to as "guts".
