Jazz Musician. Durant was a member of the musical group, 'Rebirth Brass Band,' which was formed in the 1980s in New Orleans, Louisiana, when the group's members were still in school. Durant played the saxophone in the group which also included members, John Gilbert, Kermit Ruffins, Stafford Agee, Keith Anderson, Kenneth Austin, Tyrus Chapman, Keith 'Bass Drum Shorty' Frazier, Philip Frazier, Ajay Mallery, Solomon Shabazz, Derrick Shezbie, Derek 'Dirt' Wiley, and Glen Andrews James. The groups recordings included booming uptempo tunes, rags, spirituals, originals, and marching numbers, all for the Arhoolie Record Label and Rounder Record Labels. In 1994 founding member of the group, Kermit Ruffin left to pursue a solo career. On September 17, 2003, Durant suffered a seizure and passed away at the age of 31. The group had just played the Maple Leaf Club and were schedule to do a concert at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas, at the time of Durant's death. There recordings include, 'New Orleans Music.''Rebirth Melody/ Casanova,' 'You Don't Want to Go To War,' 'Hot Venom,' 'Thinking About Ya,' 'Let's Do It Again,' 'Doing Bad,' and 'Let Me Do My Thing.'
