Civil War Union Soldier. He was mustered in as a recruit Private in Company I, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on January 5, 1864. Transferred to Company G, he served through the conclusion of the conflict, and was discharged at the Harewood United States Army General Hospital in Washington, DC, on June 19, 1865.
