French Religious Figure. Born into an aristocratic family, he was a disciple of San Colombano and his successor as prior of the abbey founded in 614 on the ruins of the ancient church of San Pietro in Bobbio. As abbot he gave great impetus to the expansion of the monastery also thanks to the conversion of many Lombards who embraced the monastic life and was the founder of the Scriptorium, considered one of the most complete libraries of the time. His works and his life are narrated in the "Vita Sancti Columbani et discipulorum eius" by the biographer Jonas Bobiensis. Attalas was declared a saint by popular acclamation. He died in 627.
