First Bishop of Exeter. A Chaplain to Edward the Confessor, in 1046 he became Bishop of the united dioceses of Devonshire and Cornwall. He did much to reconstruct the diocese, repairing the ravages caused by plundering pirates. He sought the aid of Pope Leo IX to transfer the seat of the diocese to Exeter which occured in 1050. He was confirmed in his see by William the Conqueror.
