For eleven seasons (1960 to 1971), he played at the forward position in the National Basketball Association with the Cincinnati Royals, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks. Born Robert Lewis Boozer, he attended Omaha Technical High School in Nebraska and played collegiate basketball at Kansas State University. While with the Wildcats he was a key contributor to their clinching of two Regular Season Conference titles (1958 and 1959), including their reaching of the NCAA Tournament "Final Four" in 1959. In addition, he achieved consensus All-American status twice and was the school's all-time scoring leader at the time of his departure. He was chosen by Cincinnati as the 1st overall selection during the 1959 NBA Draft, however the initiation of his professional career was delayed in order for him to remain eligible to participate in the 1960 Summer Olympic Games in Rome, Italy. Boozer was a key component to a team that featured future Hall of Fame players Walt Bellamy, Jerry Lucas, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West, and captured the Gold Medal with their defeat of the Brazilian team. In the fall of 1960 he rejoined his Olympic teammate Oscar Robertson on the Cincinnati Royals' roster and over the next three season, he produced highly-effective numbers. Boozer experienced playing in a championship round in 1966, while with the Lakers as Los Angeles was defeated by the Boston Celtics and concluded his career as a bench player with the 1970-1971 NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks. In 874 regular season games, he amassed 12,964 points with 7,119 total rebounds. Following his basketball career, he founded a successful communications company. He was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.
