U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale University in 1908 and engaged in the steel industry business. During World War I, he served in the Quartermaster Division in Washington, D.C., purchasing steel products for the U.S. Army. After the war, he continued in the steel industry and was a distributor of railway supplies and steel products. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State Liquor Board, (1937-39) and assistant director of aviation for Allegheny County, (1940-48). From 1949, until his death at age 71, he was manager of Allegheny County Airport Pennsylvania.
