21st Idaho Governor. He served as Governor of Idaho from 1945 to 1947, having ascended to the seat when, serving as Lieutenant Governor of the state, sitting Governor Charles Gossett resigned after serving ten months. When his Gubernatorial term was ending he ran for the seat, but was defeated by Charles Armington Robins. During World War I he served in the United States Army.
