I was notified of the possibility that this man may be interred in another Jenkins (Creek) Cemetery located in/near either Bryson City, Whittier, or Cherokee. The headstone shipment card says it was shipped to Cherokee.

When ammunition ran low he volunteered to leave the foxhole to get more ammunition. He was mortally wounded as he ran, but kept going to his destination until death took him.
