Since 1990, I have been working on the genealogy of my husband's family. In 1997 a computer was foisted on me and the real fun started! I began researching my own family in 2000 as a 70th b-day present for my brother. In sleuthing for family gravesites in the Northeast, we have physically unearthed family headstones. During the process of gathering family data, we have had a refresher course in US History as well as some post-grad work. The threads of our country's fabric have been spun from the family histories in our cemeteries.

In 2003-04,I had the pleasure of working with Michael Robert Patterson to identify family genealogy in many burials he had listed on his superb Arlington National Cemetery website. Michael linked the families on the website and supplied copious biographical information. The "family" continually amazed us both.

At the time, I neglected to enter names in findagrave's Arlington list and have tried to catch up, but alas too late to add many of our family ,as others gleaned the information from the above website and added it to findagrave.

I will not link entries created as "burial unknown" to our family memorials, for that is not the mission of this website as stated below.

Memorial contributions to Find A Grave must fulfill that mission - registration of the final disposition.”
"Location of body unknown is used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days."
