Bio

Born & raised in Brazil, South America (with twin sis & 2 older siblings) where my WWII Navy veteran missionary parents (George Odom & Harriet Zimmer Odom) served with Conservative Baptist Foreign Missions Society (now CBInternational/World Venture). Jesus is my Savior; so because of His blood I am forgiven.

Became interested in genealogy about 1982 when my mother began making a written record of family stories as she interviewed older relatives. My father and his parents were from Webster Co., KY, hence the interest in the cemeteries of that area where many family are buried. SPRINGDALE CEMETERY, Sebree, Webster Co., KY and MT. LEBANON GENERAL BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, Hwy 132 Sebree Dixon Rd, Webster Co., KY. ODOM and collateral lineages is my primary focus; they came from VA NC Wilson & Cannon Co., TN: James ODOM, Sr. & Ann(e) James ODOM, Jr. md Mary CRISP and beyond. Many family buried in ODOM CEMETERY, near Auburntown, Cannon Co., TN. A descendant, Jepp Newton "Jack" ODOM left Cannon Co., TN and ended up in Webster Co., KY where he married Ideller Catherine BURTON (my great-grandparents).

Enjoy recording genealogy and taking photos of tombstones as a hobby. Any tombstone / scenery photos that I have taken, you may use for non-profit genealogy purposes, including Ancestry.com. Please identify the photo as taken by: "G. J. Odom Trommler of PA"

Have included memorials for my husband's side of the family WELSCH & TROMMLER. The first known WELSCH immigrant was Henry C. WELSCH (1824-?) who married Anna Catharine 'Catharine' HAUSMANN, daughter of Johann Henrick HAUSMANN (1806 – unknown) and Catharina Elisabeth NAUMANN (1806 – 1845). The first known TROMMLER was Frederick TROMMLER (1856-?) married Amelia GRASSEL (1857-?).

MT PLEASANT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY, Christiana, Lancaster Co., PA. This cemetery became of interest to me in Sept 2010 when I found my husband had family buried there. We took photos of the entire cemetery with final photos taken in Sept 2012 on the day I saw my grandaughter born later in the afternoon. Appreciate others who have contributed memorials as I wanted to see the entire cemetery on line.

Extensive photos taken 11/2/2013 at:
LOW DUTCH CHURCH (NORTHERN), Adams Co., PA
LOW DUTCH CHURCH (SOUTHERN), Adams Co., PA

Have a new camera so am practicing by taking extensive photos at the Ream-Reddig Family Cemetery, Reamstown, Lancaster Co., PA. If a headstone is in this cemetery, eventually it will be online - Oct 2014.

Visit memorials to my grandchildren via my memorial: G. J. (Odom) Trommler

Enjoy.
