After a niece sent me a copy of my father's "Find A Grave" memorial and asked why my mother was not on it, I became a member. Now I am addicted to it.
Find A Grave is one of the most beneficial websites that I have become aquainted with both for genealogy and for historical preservation.
I will do my best to find the gravestones that are requested and may have to make a few trips so if the first picture is not of great quality, I will put a comment that I plan to redo it.
So far, I have done 3 complete cemeteries and am in the process of checking off names in case anyone is missing. Then I will do a physical search to see if they are unmarked or covered by grass, bushes or trees.
Any memorials will be gladly transfered. The only ones that I wish to keep are family tree members. I am entering people with the information that is on their stones with the hopes that someone will be searching for them. (I am not doing this just to build up numbers and I sure hope that is not anyone else's purpose.) Any corrections will be made as soon as I get notice of them.
Please do not be offended if I add a photo showing that a stone is in danger of being damaged. It is only a way to help save the stones. I am attempting to gather a group of volunteers to remove unwanted bushes and trees that were planted in a cemetery that are getting out of control because families never maintained them after planting them.
As I said, I am new to this and I appreciate all the helpful advice that others have given me.
Good luck searching for your loved ones and God bless.
* Please be patient, I will still fill your requests after the weather gets nicer. We are buried in snow right now. Feb 13, 2019
