I just found out my neighbor, Jonita, has passed away. The last I heard from her, she was in Colorado and asked me to watch her home while she was gone. She was 2 months from her due date with her son (her first!).
Her cousin posted this today:
"My cousin Eric and his wife Jonita "JoJo" were expecting the arrival in 2 months their very first child. JoJo got the All Clear from her doctor to go visit her longtime friend in Colorado while her husband stayed behind to work. While in Colorado, JoJo started to not feel very well and then all of a sudden suffered an attack of preeclampsia causing her to be rushed to the hospital in Denver where they had to do an emergency C-Section to save the baby because it was not safe to allow JoJo to continue to carry her son, Mikaiah was born 2 months premature. From the emergency C-Section JoJo suffered some major complications such as brain hemorrhaging, multiple strokes, and a coma. The coma she slipped into really took its toll on her to where they had to place her on life support to monitor her brain functions. A few days later, scans showed little to no brain function and my cousin Eric, had to make a tough choice, keep her on life support with little to no chance of recovery or, take her off and hope for a miracle that her body would be strong enough to carry on, but with little brain function, the odds were slim. Eric made the call that if they were to take her off life support, he wanted their son to lay on his mother's chest in hopes it would help stimulate a response in JoJo. They brought in baby Mikaiah and placed him on his mother's sleeping body, skin to skin, and took her off life support, within 10 minutes, JoJo passed away, the machines were what was keeping her alive, her body had stopped fighting, she was only 23. JoJo never got to meet her son or say goodbye to her husband who left everything behind to rush to be at her side in Colorado which caused them to incur unexpected travel expenses, lodging for Eric to be able to stay at JoJos side, and medical bills"
Being a mother was something Jonita was so excited about! On her Pinterest page, she was always pinning everything baby from clothing to room decorations to paint colors for the room. My heart is shattered.
Jonita also loved LOVED LOVED makeup artistry, was always posting about yummy things she was cooking/baking, and it seems like was ALWAYS going to get her nails done<3
I am going to miss my friend and my neighbor.
