Dr. Riley Eugene Spoon, Jr., 63, 2639 Club Park Rd., died Sunday morning at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born in Forsyth County to Riley Eugene, Sr. and Esther Coble Spoon. He was educated in Forsyth County and graduated from Reynolds High School and Wake Forest University. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School and a veteran of World War II. Dr. Spoon began his dental practice in 1946 retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Forsyth Country Club and the American College of Dentists. He was a board member of the N. C. Dental Foundation and former secretary-treasurer of the N. C. Dental Society. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vogler's Reynolds Road Chapel by Dr. Paul Craven. Burial will be in Forsyth Memorial Park. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fay Chandler Spoon of the home; one daughter, Ms. Jennifer Spoon, Dexter, Mi.; one son, Riley Chandler Spoon, Winston-Salem; one sister, Mrs. Betty Bornman, Lakeland, Fla., and two brothers, Frank L. Spoon, Sacramento, Ca., and Jack W. Spoon, Winston-Salem.
