The son of Henry E. Brokaw and Catherine A. Manning who died in 1854. His father Henry married Amelia Ann Stryker in 1855.

Alexander married Margaret "Maggie" Jane Tunison, December 14, 1877, Somerville, Somerset County, NJ.

His residence at time of death was 327 Tyler St., living in Trenton over 50 years.
Alexander was formerly employed by Trenton & Mercer County Traction Company, starting as operator of a horse car. He was later a trolley motorman for number of years.
He was survived by 3 daughters Eva May (Nightingale),Mrs. Taylor O. Cook, and Mary Louise (Mrs. George Armstrong Rule.)

Note: Alexander is included and his Brokaw family are included in application for membership in National Society of Sons of American Revolution, as descendent of Lieut. John Brokaw (1735-1777)
