She was born July 7, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Charles and Marion Bishop Coates. She was a graduate of Suffolk, Va., High School. She received her bachelor of science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a physical therapy degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1953. She was a physical therapist for 41 years at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Wesley Hall Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Cutter of Bennington and Victoria Brehm of Arkansas; one son, Darrin Wilder of Biloxi, Miss.; one sister, Sheila Thompson of Washington state; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. "Jim" Wilder, whom she married July 25, 1967, and who died March 1, 1998; her parents; four brothers, Edwin Coates, Howell Coates, Willard Coates and Charles Coates Jr.; and two sisters, Margaret Moore and Teresa Donahue.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.
