Reba Reynolds Motley, of Chatham, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2012. She was born September 20, 1929 in Callands, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Lee and Ava Eanes Reynolds, her daughter Denise Reynolds Motley, and sisters Irma Hyler, Edythe Bragg, Doris Thornton and brother Lynwood Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter S. Elizabeth Motley of Richmond, her sister Ann Reynolds and longtime companion Fletcher B. Watson IV both of Chatham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a long time member of Chatham Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed many years of singing in the choir and participating in various activities which enriched the lives of many in the church and the community.
She was the first appointed General Registrar in Pittsylvania County where she served for twenty one years. During her appointed time she introduced Saturday and evening registration at local schools within the county. She was an avid bridge player throughout her life and in her retirement years she enjoyed flower gardening, having a particular fondness of roses. She delighted in sharing her flowers and her garden was always open to everyone.
A memorial service will be conducted at Chatham Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Mikel D. Pugh officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
