North Carolina, USA
Randolph Stoner migrated from North Carolina to Sand Mountain, Alabama, by way of Tennessee. His first wife, with whom he had one child (Archibald), is said to have been a Cherokee. How their marriage ended is not clear. According to some family stories, she left him to return to the Cherokees. Randolph then married Minerva Day, with whom he had six children: Thomas Caldean, James K. Polk, Pleasant Henry, John Calvin, Margaret Eliza, and Mary A. After Minerva's death, Randolph married Sarah Sizemore Tankersley and had three more children: George, Randall, and Sallie.
