Age 80, of Lansing, formerly an active member of the Swartz Creek area, died November 7, 2012. He was born September 10, 1932, in Lansing, MI.

Fredrick graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in June 1950. He retired from the State of Michigan where he worked for Lic & Reg and Office Service division of the DMB. He was a member of the State Employee Retirees Association. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later served with Michigan National Guard, where he retired as an E-7 with the 146th Military Police Battalion. Mr. Parks was a member of the American Legion Fisher Body Post #183 and the Morley S. Oates VFW Post #701.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin and Lillian (Rodgers) Parks, four brothers and four sisters. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Erma (Mitchell); sons, Michael (Mary) and Scott (Jeannie); daughter, "Turk" Karen; three grandchildren; brother, Arlin; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Barbara) Mitchell; and nieces and nephews, Cindy (Larry) McMurphy, Lloyd Jr. (Mary), Leonard (Amy), Loren (Jill) and Lisa Mitchell (Richard Wilson).

The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Browne of University United Methodist Church officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc, MI. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys Association.
