CROSBY — Donovan Peterson, age 88, of Crosby, and formerly of Merrifield and St. Louis Park, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at his home. He was born to Victor and Mae (Montgomery) Peterson on Aug. 14, 1924, in Huron, S.D.

As a child, Don lived in several small towns in North Dakota and graduated from high school in Langdon, N.D., in 1942. He went on to attend North Dakota State University until enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1945 and earning the Combat Infantry Badge in Leyte PI, Okinawa, Japan. In 1951, Don earned his bachelor of science degree in medical technology from the University of Minnesota. He worked in clinical laboratories in North and South Dakota and Minneapolis. He was also a member of 5501 U.S. Army Hospital from 1955-1977.

Don is survived by his children, Sandra Price (Fred), Jan Kimble, Brad Peterson (Mayra); grandchildren, Angela, Matthew, Tristan, Amanda, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Madeline, Megan, Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy "Dot" (Walbaum) Peterson; grandson, Todd Price; and sister, Genevieve Rasmussen.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Grace United Methodist Church, Pequot Lakes, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be noon on Friday, Nov. 16, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes.
