Roman Catholic Saint. He was a man who had lived a life as a peddler, sailor, captain and property manager before settling down to become a hermit. He took guidance from the local priory and led a life of prayer and simplicity. Many came to visit him and were impressed by his holiness and willingness to listen to people's problems. He is the patron of women's illness's and his shrine was popular during the Middle Ages.
