Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 6, 1893, Monsignor Eric Francis MacKenzie was ordained to the priesthood on October 20, 1918. Appointed Auxiliary for the Archdiocese of Boston and Bishop of the Titular See of Alba, he received his episcopal consecration on September 14, 1950, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross from Richard James Cushing, Archbishop of Boston, assisted by Patrick Aloysius O'Boyle, Archbishop of Washington and by Thomas Kiely Gorman, Bishop of Reno. He died in Boston on August 20, 1969, aged 75, and lies buried in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts.
