Mary Frances Greene Harrold departed this life for a far better place on November 14, 2012. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary was born on June 5, 1918 in Muncie, Indiana she was the daughter of John A. and Aletha (Thorpe) Greene. Mary was predeceased by sister Elizabeth G. Malnoski, brother Robert E. Greene, husband Donald E. Harrold, son John F. Harrold and son-in-law Robert K. Wendel. She is survived by son James R. Harrold and daughter Nancy A. Harrold along with grandchildren Jeffery (Kristie) Harrold, Christopher (Heather) Harrold and their mother, Patricia S. Harrold and Marianne (Andy) Roush, and her mother M. Jan Lockwood. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Mary is also survived by sister-in-law Mary louise H. Neff and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was an active member of High Street United Methodist Church and later affiliated with Mt. Crawford United Methodist Church.

Mary was a loving, caring woman who adored her family. She always had time for any of them and delighted in their accomplishments. She was one of the first women entrepreneurs in her home town of Muncie, Indiana, owning and operating a gift shop for several years. She then became involved in the hospital auxiliary and went on to become the President of the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary. Mary loved to travel and was ready to go to Europe in the 60's with some of her bridge club, and would go again whenever asked. Mary and Don moved to Florida in the 1970's and there she found her true love of Quilting and the special women who are involved in that beautiful skill. So when she moved to the Shenandoah Valley, it was only natural that she find a group of Quilters again, And she did, at the Virginia Quilt Museum, the Shenandoah Valley Quilting Guild and the Bridgewater Home Quilters. Thanks to all these special women who welcomed Mary into their lives and quilting projects… (You know who you are!).

Sincere thanks goes to the Staff, Volunteers, and ALL the workers at Bridgewater Home, for making Mary feel so special and loved.
