Mildred R. "Millie" Lawson, 80, formerly of Milford Street, Clarksburg, died May 5, 2002, at Grafton City Hospital of an extend illness.
She was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Wellington Buford Cleavenger and Kitty Webb Cleavenger of Philippi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, C. Glen Lawson, on April 11, 1992.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gary R. Lawson and his wife, Cindy of Rocky Gap, Va., C. Earl Lawson and his wife, Jan of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Ashley Lawson, Aaron Lawson, Jennifer Lawson, Chad Lawson, Sean Lawson, Erica Lawson and David Lawson; three sisters, Eleanor Jeanie Marsh and her husband, Wilford of Philippi, Lena Heckman and her husband, Harold of Zionsville, Ind., and Joanne Athey, Parkersburg; two brothers, John Cleavenger and his wife, Sheila of Bridgeport, and Richard Cleavenger and his wife, Patty of bridgeport; several nephews and nieces.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert B. Cleavenger, Charles D. Cleavenger and Oliver B. Cleavenger; and one sister, Betty Ann Wilson.
Mrs. Lawson was an active member of the Clarksburg Baptist Church, loved cooking, golf, bowling and enjoyed her family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, with the Rev. Max Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
