Founder of the Trinity College of Music. Born in Valletta, Malta, where his father was serving as lay vicar to the Anglican bishop in Jerusalem, Henry George Bonavia Hunt was ordained deacon through the Anglican Church in 1878 and was successively named curate in Surrey. Involved in promoting Church music since his early years, he founded the Church Choral Society in 1872 which was assimilated as the Trinity College of Music four years later. Authoring various publications, including the popular "A Concise History of Music", he lectured at London University. His legacy with Trinity College was so outstretched, that his ghost is said to haunt the first floor in the former buildings of Trinity at Mandeville Place.
