Berneice Smith, 68, 2011 W. Jackson St., wife of Julian E. Smith, died at Ball Memorial Hospital Friday morning following an extended illness. She was born in Milton, Ky. but spent most of her life in Muncie. She graduated from Muncie High School with the Class of 1911. Mrs. Smith was a member of College Avenue Methodist Church, Martha Washington Club, and L.T.F. Club and the Golden Rule Club. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. James Grantham; a son, Robert L. Smith, and four grandchildren, Betty Lou Smith, James, Steven, and Danny Grantham, all of Muncie. Services will be held at Meeks Mortuary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Don Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 Saturday and any time before the services Sunday.
