Medical Pioneer. He was the founder of "Chiropractic." Born in the small town of Port Perry in Ontario, Canada, he moved to Davenport, Iowa when he was 20. There he founded the Davenport College of Chiropractic. His son, Dr. B.T. Palmer later became head of this college, and the cause of his own father's death. A rift had grown between father and son 10 years earlier. Dr. Palmer Sr. went to Iowa to attend a parade, he stepped out of the vehicle because his son was in this same vehicle. Then was accidentally stuck in the back by the vehicle driven by his son. He never fully recovered from this. There is a full story about this in the Los Angeles Times Oct 21 1913. In 1938 his birth town of Port Perry named a park on the waters edge of Lake Scugog in the honor of Dr. Palmer, then later in 1946 they erected the statue shown to the right in that same park.
