Daniel Charles Harris was born November 6, 1949, in Oberlin, Kansas, the son of Donald F. And Irmadene "Dene" (Johnston) Harris. He passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood, Kansas, at the age of 63.

Dan and his two younger siblings grew up in Oberlin. He attended Oberlin Elementary School, graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1968, and attended Fort Hays State University for two years. In addition, Dan served in the Army National Guard.

Dan and former wife, Carolyn Shirley, were united in marriage on January 14, 1972. They became the parents of a son and daughter and resided in Oberlin. Dan and former wife, Regina Dellere, were married on June 18, 1983. They had one daughter. They lived in Denver, Colorado, and Sacramento, California. Dan later moved to a farm west of Rexford for several years before moving to Colby.

For most of his adult life, Dan worked as a truck driver and also did construction work. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oberlin. His hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, camping, barbecuing, and sports —especially football, baseball, and golf. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed time spent with his family.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; cousin, John Keenan; and two nephews, Jordan Harris and Christopher Harris.

Funeral Service: Friday, November 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Oberlin. Rev. Nancy Proffitt will officiate.
