Born in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Ralph S. and Blanche E. (Miller) Markle. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Welby E. Beatty, on September 6, 1976; four brothers, Donald, Lou, Oral and Arnold Markle; and two sisters, Frances Ravenscroft and Thelma Swaner.
Mrs. Beatty was formerly employed with Celanese Amcelle Corporation and Keyser Garment Company. She was a member of Fairview Chapel United Methodist Church, Waxler Road.
Surviving are two sons, Terry E. Beatty and wife, Sherry, and Jeffery L. Beatty, all of Keyser; two daughters, Luann G. Beatty of Keyser and Kathy L. Toma and husband, George, of Charleston; two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Markle, both of Keyser; two sisters, Ruth Elaine Robinson of Keyser and Helen D. Kimble of Dawson, Md.; two grandchildren, Adam M. Beatty and Kristi R. Beatty, both of Keyser; four stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-granddaughter. She loved all of her nieces and nephews, especially her nephew, Butch, whom she considered a son, and his wife, Mickey, and their children, Kennet, Kellen, Michelle and Terri as her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at the Smith Funeral Home Keyser Chapel, with Pastor Cara Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home Keyser Chapel.
Vera loved life and her greatest wish was that all could know the true love of Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
