John A. Eccles Sr, 87, of Edgerton, passed away at his home on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. He was born on June 14, 1925, in Park Falls, WI, son of the late Edward and Gladys Eccles. He was united in marriage in 1948, to Vivian Johnson, in Chippewa Falls, WI. She preceded him in death in 1979. John had worked at several dairy farms in the area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. John served in the United States Navy during WWII, in the South Pacific, where he was on two destroyers that were sunk during battles, the USS Mayrant and the USS Hudson.
He is survived by sons, John (Kay) Eccles Jr. of Edgerton, and Daniel Eccles of Janesville; daughter, Darlene (Fred) Zimmerli of Sturtevant; Robert, Lorraine, Jeanne, Cindy, Julie and Connie, all of Iowa. He was preceded in death by two sons, Chuck and Steve.
Private family funeral services will be held. Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, (US HWY 51 S), Edgerton, from 9 until 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Fassett Cemetery. Full Military services will be held at the cemetery, by the Edgerton Memorial Squad.
