Entertainer. Luckey, whose real name was Suzanne Douglas, was an actress, singer and dancer who spent the majority of her career working in theater, but it was her on-screen roles in 'Carousel' (1956) and 'The Music Man' (1962) for which she will likely be best remembered. Born in Hollywood, she made her first stage appearance at the age of six, in a Christmas play staged by the Plummer Park Players. She studied at the American School of Dance and at 14 was earning a living as a performer. In 1954 she was one of the Native Americans in the original Broadway production of 'Peter Pan' starring Mary Martin. Among films she appeared in were 'Deep In My Heart' (1954), 'Teenage Rebel' (1956) and 'Step Out of Your Mind' (1966). On television, during the 1950s she was a regular on 'Telephone Time' and appeared in 'Annie Get Your Gun'. Luckey, who was married to actor Larry Douglas from 1964 until his death in 1996, died of natural causes. (bio by: Louis M.)
