Funeral mass for Herman J Roleke, 88, of 400 NW 35, who died Monday at St Anthony Hospital, will be at 9:30 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born in Hanover, Germany, he immigrated to Bethany MO in 1893 and came to El Reno in 1902 to assist in one of the drawings that opened Oklahoma Territory to homesteaders.
Roleke moved to Oklahoma City in 1904 and joined the American Surety Co.
He was a member of the downtown Rotary Club for 53 years, a charter member of the First Knights of Columbus in Oklahoma, and was honored at the council's 50th and 60th anniversary celebrations in El Reno.
Survivors are his wife, Lenore, of the home; three sons, Willis of Roselle Park NJ; J Winfred of Kansas City; and Herbert of Homestead NY; a sister, Wilma Roleke of Hildesheim, Germany.
