MUNCIE - Russell L. Brandenburg, 92, of Muncie, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012. He was born on July 1, 1920, to Hobart and Mary Brandenburg.
He was an avid collector of stamps as well as Betty Boop collectibles. Russell always seemed to have a smile on his face, and he enjoyed watching sports and westerns. He loved his family and dogs.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Bernice Brandenburg; 2nd wife, Lottie May Brandenburg; son, Russell L. Brandenburg, Jr.; brother, Earl Brandenburg; and grandson, Jeffrey Ratliff.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Susan Couch of Muncie, Markeeta Matson of Lakeland, FL; stepdaughter, Anita Simmons of Muncie; stepsons, Gary Hall of Muncie, David Hall of Ridgeville; sister, Peggy Boyd of Plainfield; faithful dog companion, Babe; 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and 5 great great granchildren.
A funeral service for Russell will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Pastor Coleman Barlow will officiate the service.
Calling for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
