Llewellyn Elroy "Pudge" Franklin died on July 8, 1990 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH after a brief illness. He was born on December 2, 1919 in Claremont; the son of Ray and Georgianna (Fountain) Franklin.

He graduated from Stevens High School in 1937, joined the U S Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatres. He was stationed on the aircraft carriers USS Lexington and USS Enterprise with Air Group 20. He was also a member of the Navy Reserve. He was employed by the Old Sullivan Machine Co for forty five years where he held various administrative positions including superintendent and manufacturing manager.

He played minor league baseball with the Philadelphia Athletics Class C in Newport News, VA and Federalsburg, MD. He was involved with the community and helped with the Junior Sports League and the Tri State Basketball League in 1950, involving Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. He also taught methods and tool design in the Claremont night school system for three years, served on the Blood Mobile program, was moderator for Ward I, and chairman of the Claremont bicentennial parade in 1966.

He was a member of the Joy Management Club, the Society of Tool Engineers, the Junior Sports League, the Claremont Country Club, the Claremont Jaycees, the American Legion Post No 29, the New Hampshire Vocational Technical Council and a member and secretary of the Kiwanis for many years. He was a member of the Claremont Fire Department and the United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and treasurer for many years.

He married Mary Lillian White on December 18, 1943 in San Diego, CA.

He was preceded in death by brother Ray E Franklin in 1986.

The surviving family includes his wife two sons, Thomas Llewellyn Franklin of Claremont and John Russell Franklin of Milford, NH; one daughter, Sue Ellen Franklin-Lesniak of Brookline, NH; grandchildren, Kevin Franklin and Matthew Franklin; two sisters Shirley Champagne of Lempster, NH and Janet Howe of Titusville, FL.

Interment will be in Mtn View Cemetery.
