died aged 84, at the home of his son Mervin E Dodge, 31 Ball Street in Orange; had lived in Leverett more than 70 years, moving there with his parents David Newell Dodge and Sophia Pratt Dodge from North Adams where he was born, when he was a year old; at age 19 he received an injury which handicapped him somewhat in later life, when one foot, ankle and leg was crushed in a derrick, but he was employed for many years in the Beaman-Marvel box factory in Leverett and more recently at the Millers Falls company plant; his wife who was Estella Briggs, member of a Leverett family, died 32 years ago Tuesday, the day of his burial; he had made his home for 24 years with his son Mervin in Leverett, for six years in Troy, N.Y., and the last six years in Orange; surviving in addition to his son are four grandsons Harlan, Phillip, Richard, and Howard Dodge, and one great-granddaughter Janice Antes all of 31 Ball Street; and one brother William A Dodge of Chestnut Hill who is the last of the 14 children of David and Sophia Dodge; funeral from Witty funeral parlors, burial Moore's Corner Leverett [published Wednesday, March 27, 1935, Springfield Republican]
