MUNCIE--Doris V. Jefferson, 80, Muncie, went home to be with the Lord with her loving family at her bedside on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 after an extended illness.
She was born June 24, 1927 in Muncie to Delray D. and Jessie "Driscoll" McCreery.
Doris attended Muncie Community Schools. She worked for H.L. Hunt, at Butterfield Canning, and for 19 years at the food snack bar at K-Mart.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 19 Auxiliary. She loved her Family Yahtzee Club and loved all her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Rick Jefferson (wife: Lora), Pickins, SC, and Thomas Jefferson, Sr. (wife: Terry), Muncie; her daughter, Sorona Allred (husband: Mike), Muncie; her brother, Albert McCreery (wife: Pat), Greenfield; 8 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Jefferson; her parents; and nine brothers and sisters.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Parson Mortuary. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday or an hour prior to the services on Saturday at the mortuary.
