BUCKS HARBOR - Millard Harris Urquhart Jr., 88, passed peacefully at his home March 31, 2013. Millard was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Bar Harbor. He was one of the nine children born to Nellie and Millard Urquhart Sr.
Millard spent part of his childhood on Seguin Island while his parents worked as the lighthouse keepers off Popham. He served in World War II and upon his return home, married the love of his life, Millie (Alley) Urquhart. Millard and Millie celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary Aug. 15, 2012. He started his family with Millie in Jonesport, and then later they moved to Bucks Harbor where he started many successful businesses. He was the proud owner of Bucks Harbor Lobster Company, Bucks Harbor Seafood, with Alfred Polk and Roamer Company, with Jullian Colbeth.
He is survived by his wife Millie; son, Dana L. and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Darlene U. Wood and husband, Cecil; grandsons, Charles Ashton and wife, Tracy; Christopher Harris and wife, Morgan; granddaughters, Amanda Sprague and husband, Eric; Natalie Boldeia and husband, Mark; grandson, Elijah Wood; great-grandson Dexter Douglas; three brothers, Adelmar and wife, Beatrice; Carl and wife, Gracie and Orrin and wife, Colleen; two sisters, Madie U. Seavey and Gracie Urquhart. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Allen and Wendell; and a sister Mary.
Funeral services at Bucks Harbor Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Wood officiating. Committal services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. Memorials at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
