Member of Parliament and Attorney General of England and Wales. Baggallay graduated from law school and passed the bar in 1843. For the next decade and a half he practiced law, and in 1861 was appointed as Queen's Counsul and in 1865 he was elected to Parliament as a Conservative. From 1869 to 1875 he was counsel to the University of Cambridge (where he graduated with honors) and in 1868 he received the honor of knighthood, being at the time Solicitor General in the Administration of Prime Minister Disraeli. In 1870 after being out of Parliament for two years, he was elected member for Mid Surrey, and was again returned for the same constituency in 1874, being re-elected on his appointment as Solicitor general. In 1875 he was appointed Lord Justice of the Court of Appeal, and a member of the Court of Appeal and a member of the Privy Council.
