Son of Phillip Moore and Sarah Moore.

John Moore had two sons in the army, George P. Moore and Isaac, the latter being severely injured when he was shot in the head.

The Buckeye District was served at first by a log school building, in which a subscription school was held, later replaced by a frame building and later by a brick structure.
Patriots in each district, with the number of children of school are are listed as follows:

May 23,1860, came and with it much excitement, A record vote was polled at Mooresville, then the communities voting place. two hundred and one votes were counted against secession, for secession, not one. Even "Dumb" John Moore hasten to attend and have his vote counted. There was no mistaking the sentiment of the section: Virginia, as it exists today, stood by the Confederacy, WV, by the Union.
