Vada E. Jones was born October 16, 1913. She was the sixth of nine children born to Julius and Beatrice Powdrill Johnson.
Vada was united in marriage to Alton Davis, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union one son, Alton Davis, Jr., was born.
She moved to San Francisco in 1943. She met and married Gerald G. Jones in 1952. She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in 1943.
She served on the Senior Usher Board for forty-seven years until her health began to fail. She served on the Trustee Board for many years. One of Vada's loves was bowling and was in a league which won first prize. She enjoyed her hobby very much and was very good at it, winning many trophies. She was a very lovable lady, always smiling, never had a bad word for anyone. She never got tired of working for the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband, Gerald G. Jones; one son, Alton Davis, Jr.; granddaughter, Crystal Davis; one sister, Margaree Stein of Houston, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Jones and Fleta Belle Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives; friends and church members.
