Italian silent film actress. Maria began acting in theater productions at a young age and made her film debut in 1906 for the Cines in what is considered the first film adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, directed by Mario Caserini, her husband. Maria is best remembered for her roles in silent films such as "Romeo e Giulietta" (1908) and "Macbeth" (1909), both directed by her husband. From 1910 to 1927 she starred in 65 films, many of which always directed by Caserini. She abandoned her film career in 1927 to devote herself to the theater.
