Son of Isaac Biggs and Gertrude, husband of Harriet A. Nellis, the daughter of Jonathan P. Nellis and Gertrude Armstrong, whom he married on May 30, 1839 in New York City, NY, and father of Saunders, Sarah, Isaac Leslie, Eugene, Aberdeen G., and Ida Biggs.

Marriage announcement, New York Evening Post, Saturday, June, 1839 - Thursday, 30th Inst., by the Rev. George Benedict, Isaac A. Biggs, to Harriet A. Nellis, all of this city.

Isaac ran into a bit of trouble in July of 1849 with John Jacob Astor and William B. Astor and was sentenced to Sing Sing State Prison for a term of three years. He served a brief time, but his wife, who was described as "spoken of in the highest terms," secured a pardon for him on April 3, 1851 in Albany, NY.

In 1850, his wife, Harriet A. Biggs, aged 29, was living in New York, NY, with Frances A. (Adelaide) Biggs, aged 10, (daughter of Abel and Mehitable Biggs), Saunders Biggs, aged 8, Isaac Leslie Biggs, aged 6, Eugene E. Biggs, aged 3, and Aberdeen C. Biggs, aged 1 and Harriet O. (Ophelia) Biggs, aged 7 (daughter of Abel and Mehitable Biggs). Living next door were Abel R. Biggs, aged 28, a grocer, and his wife, Mehetable Biggs, aged 26.

In 1855, on the 11th day of June, Isaac Biggs, aged 39, born in Queens County, NY, was living in New York City, NY, with his wife, Harriet Biggs, aged 32, born in Montgomery County, NY, and children, Sarah Biggs, aged 13, born in New York, Isaac Biggs, aged 13, born in Queens, Eugene Biggs, aged 8, born in New York, Aberdeen Biggs, aged 6, born in New York, and Ida Biggs, aged 6 months, who was born in Philadelphia. Pa. He was shown to be a grocer by trade.

In 1860, Isaac A. Biggs, aged 46, was living in New York, NY, with his wife, shown to be Mary Biggs, aged 44, and children, Sanderson (Saunders), aged 23, a clerk, Isaac Biggs, aged 17, a clerk, Eugene Biggs, aged 13, Aberdeen Biggs, aged 12, Ida Biggs, aged 7, and servants, Mary Murphy, aged 26, and Jane Biggs, aged 12. Isaac, the elder, was shown to be a real estate broker.

In 1865, Isaac A. Biggs, aged 46, was living in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife, Harriet A. Biggs, aged 42, and children, Saunders Biggs, aged 23, Isaac A. Biggs, aged 21, Eugene Biggs, aged 18, Aberdeen G. Biggs, aged 16, and Ida Biggs, aged 10. Isaac, the father, was shown to be a real estate broker, as was his son, Saunders. His son, Isaac, was shown to be a clerk.

From around 1862 to around 1875, various real estate adds appeared in The New York Daily Herald for properties for sale. His business name was both Isaac A. Biggs and Isaac A. Biggs & Son with addresses shown to be; 73 Nassau Street, 77 Nassau Street, 206 Broadway, and 5 Dey Street, consecutively.

In 1870, Isaac Biggs, aged 55, real estate agent, was living at 30 Laight Street, New York, New York, with Harriet Biggs, aged 50, Saunders Biggs, aged 29, real estate agent, Grace Biggs, bookkeeper, Eugene Biggs, aged 23, Aberdeen Biggs, aged 22, Ida Biggs, aged 16, and Estella Biggs, aged 20.

In 1875, Isaac A. Biggs, aged 62, was living at 83 St. Mark's Avenue, in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife, Harriet A. Biggs, aged 52, and children, Saunders H. Biggs, aged 32, his wife, Estella L. Biggs, aged 28, Eugene C.R. Biggs, aged 28, Ida H. Biggs, aged 18, and Ann Macavoy, aged 23, and servants, Catherine Vaughn, aged 35. Isaac was shown to be a real estate broker.

Isaac was a colorful character and was mentioned in an article written on him and his son, Isaac Leslie Biggs in The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, in 1886, which stated that he had once owned a store in the town of Patchogue, Long Island, but sold out and moved to New York. Isaac, the elder, who was living at 243 Broadway, New York, ran into some more trouble in 1883 where he, along with Emil Brie and Wesley Lyon, were involved in a fraudulent real estate transaction concerning forged Missouri State certificates and he was sent back to prison, and he died while still in jail at the "Tombs".

On December 7, 1883 Isaac A. Biggs suffered a paralytic stroke and died a few days later, on December 9th, 1883. He was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, in the Biggs family plot, lot 7241. Buried nearby are members of the Nellis family.
