Florena Floye Williams (1933-2012)

TYLER - Services for Florena Floye Williams, 79, of Tyler will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with her family officiating.

A private burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Whitewright under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Florena passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 in Tyler.

She was born Oct. 28, 1933 in Whitewright to James Ralston and Mildred Ruth Hopper Williams.

Florena graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton and did graduate work at East Texas State University. She was a speech and drama teacher for 42 years in Sour Lake and Sherman. Flo loved to garden, read and make crafts. Florena was active in theater directing as well as acting. She loved animals and was extremely dedicated to her family.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving family including siblings, Margaret Hall and husband Capt. John O. of Flint and Ruth Compton and husband Jim of Bullard; nieces and nephews, Sharon Hughes of Bullard, James Hall of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michele Compton of Bullard and Kevin M. Hall of New York City; grand-nephews, Lukas Hughes and Mikah Hughes.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 -2 p.m., Dec. 28, 2012 at the Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
