He had worked in the CCC Camps and in California during World War II. He returned to the Town of Peshtigo in 1946 and had resided there since. He was a commercial fisherman for 5 years and for 26 years, he worked for Peninsula Piping, retiring in 1982. He had served on the Marinette County Board for 16 years and was chairman of the forestry committee. He was a former chairman of the Town of Peshtigo Board. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed dancing. He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Local #400 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and the National Rifle Association.
He married the former Violet Belaire on April 23, 1938 in Marinette.
Besides his wife Violet, he is survived by three sons: Robert (Bert) and Edward A. Kowalski, both of Marinette, WI and Tom (Jean) Kowalski of Brookfield, WI;
daughter Jeanne (James) Mooren of Seymour, Wisconsin;
one sister: Helen Winneke of Oakland, California;
7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home after 4 pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm at the funeral home with Deacon Jerome Thetreau officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Marinette, WI.
