A retired gardener, Dan. M. Nelson, 72, of 1016 Y Street, Vancouver, died here Sunday. He had been a local resident for the past 22 years, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 731 and World War I Veterans of Vancouver.

He is survived by his widow, LaVerne; a son, Kenneth, of Zug, Switzerland; a daughter Mrs. William (Carol) Johnson of North Hollywood, Calif.; a brother, George W. Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Hansina) Skaugen, and Mrs. Samuel (Minnie) Allen, both of Portland, and Mrs. R. V. (Julia) Sumrill, of Vancouver. There are five grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Vancouver Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles A. Dockstader officiating. Interment will be at the Willamette National Cemetery.* from The Columbian August 18, 1964
