Lucinda, daughter of Luman Field and Abigail Delong Field, married William Heath, August 3, 1837 in Knoxville, Illinois.
Her demise occurred at eight o'clock this morning at the home of her son, William, 1228 East Main St. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the house. The remains will be interred in Hope cemetery beside those of the husband and children. Old age was the cause of the death of Mrs. Field, as the past few years have been for her remarkably healthy ones. Mrs. Heath was born June 16, 1819, at Cornwall, Addison Co, VT. In 1836 she removed with her parents to Knoxville. There on Aug 3, 1837, she was united in marriage to William M Heath, of that village. Seven years ago she came to Galesburg with her son and has made her home here ever since. The husband died March 31, 1882.
Eight children were born to the couple and only two of them, James, of Chicago, and William of Galesburg, were living at the time of her death. Two of the children died in infancy, Sidney F, died in Shenandoah, Iowa in 1878, and Mrs. Mary Armstrong died at Center Point in 1874. Another son, Morgan L, who was a soldier in the war for the Union, died at Springfield, Illinois in 1864, from wounds received.
One brother remains of the family, James Field of Topeka, Kan, and the late Local C. Field was at one time mayor of Galesburg. A sister, Mrs. Fred Sisson, died in Peoria some years ago. Mrs. Heath was of distinguished lineage. She was granddaughter to Elisha Field, Jr, and the great granddaughter to Elisha Field, Sr. Jeremiah Bingham and Elias DeLong were also relatives of the family. All of these men fought through the war of the Revolution, and were in the army commanded by George Washington.
She was a member of the Chicago Chapter DAR and was admitted to membership October 7, 1897. Her membership in this patriotic society was the source of very great pleasure to Mrs. Heath and she was very proud of her ancestry. She possessed papers showing the entire war history of her illustrious ancestors. Her grandchildren presented her with the badge of the society, which is an old-fashioned spinning wheel with beautiful surroundings and inscriptions.
