Gladys Bolden Bond, of Bedford, Ky., formerly of Vevay, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in Bedford, Ky.
She was born in Florence, the daughter of Vernon E. and Leona M. Vahlsing Bolden. She was raised in Markland and Florence. She resided in Mount Sterling, before moving to Vevay, in 1994. She was formerly employed at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay for 40 years. Gladys took early retirement to take care of her husband who became ill. Following her husband's death, she returned to work at the shoe factory until it closed. She was formerly employed as a housekeeper at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay for seven years. She was a member of the Mount Sterling Baptist Church and attended the Corn Creek Baptist Church in Bedford, Ky. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, reading, taking care of her lawn and home, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. "Bobby" Bond, whom she married Aug. 24, 1949, and who died Dec. 11, 1996; her father, who died May 23, 1992; her mother, who died Feb. 1, 1991; one brother, Charles V. "Chuck" Bolden, who died June 17, 1992; and one sister, Beverly "Inky" Jackson, who died Sept. 11, 2006.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 28, at Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay, Ind. With The Rev. Mike Sawalich and the Rev. Peter Phillips officiating. Interment was at Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Ind.
Mrs. Bond was born in Florence, Ind. She was the daughter of Vernon E. and Leona M Vashing Bolden. She was raised in Markland, Ind. and Florence, Ind. Mrs. Bond was united in marriage on Aug. 27, 1949, in Carrollton, Ky. to Robert L. "Bobby" Bond and they had two daughters. The couple resideded in Mt. Sterling, Ind., before moving to Vevay in 1994. They shared 47 years together until his death on Dec. 11, 1996.
Mrs. Bond was formerly employed at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, for 40 years. She took early retirement to take care of her husband, who because ill. After her husband's death, she went back to work at the U.S. Shoe Factory until it closed. She was formerly employed at Swiss Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a housekeeper in Vevay, a job she loved and held for seven years.
Mrs. Bond was a member of the Mount Sterling Baptist Church in Mount Sterling, Ind., and attended the Corn Creek Baptist Church in Bedford, Ky. She will be remembered for her love of shopping, gardening, reading, keeping a meticulous home and lawn, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother, Charles V. "Chuck" Bolden; a sister, Beverly "Inky" Jackson; and a son-in-law, Hubert D. Hunter.
Mrs. Bond is survived by two daugther, Cheryl (Jim) Stevens of Bedford, Ky., and Debby Hunter and her companion Billy Pate of Carrollton, Ky.; two grandchildren, Randy Stevens and Rob (Jenna) Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Jace, Evan Ben, Maggie and Kate Stevens; two brothers, Danny Bolden of Aurora, Ind., and Gary "Skip" (Loleta) Bolden of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Robby Works, Rob Stevens, Jim Stevens, Billy Pate, Randy Stevens and Jace Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Bolden, Gary "Skip" Bolden, Evan Stevens, Ben Stevens, Maggie Stevens and Kate Stevens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to Mount Sterling Baptist Church or to Hosparus. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
