Helen M. Schlottman, age 98, formerly of Boyceville, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie.
Helen was born Jan. 28, 1914, in the Township of Tiffany, to George and Alma (Swanbeck) Munson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended the Oak Ridge Country School. She was a member of Ebenzer Evangelical Church and later United Methodist Church.
She met Herbert Schlottman and they dated for three years. Helen married Herbert Oct. 27,1934, at the church parsonage in Boyceville. They farmed for many years until Herbert's death.
She continued working in the farm with son Gerald until age 70. Helen loved caring for the animals, especially the cats. She enjoyed gardening and music concerts, especially the Heutmakers and great-grandchildren's concerts at school.
Few people have the good fortune to have lived a full and rewarding life. Those who knew her, knew when she was baking homemade bread and would stop. The grandchildren know of her fruit salads and butterscotch pie. She enjoyed attending the Rustic Lore and Pickle Fest parades. The marching bands were her favorites. She attended the
Peterson Farm Summer concerts and enjoyed the Ludington Guard Band. Helen will be sadly missed by her family and friends, for her stories and coffee with a snacks.
Helen was preceded by her parents; husband, Herbert, in 1959; twin great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Braelyn; sister, Alice Killian; brother, Edwin Munson; and half-brother, Swen
Lindberg.
Helen is survived by two children, Joan Ludtke and husband Robert of Downing, and Gerald Schlottman and wife Nancy of Boyceville; 7 grandchildren, Allan Ludtke, Jon Ludtke and wife Kirsten, Daniel Schlottman and wife Laurey, Anita Jones, Lisa Grassl and husband Michael, Diana Chance and husband Wesley and Lynda Vielbig and husband Michael; 14
