Christoper Halverson, Resident of the County Since 1857 is Dead

Christopher Halverson, aged 76, one of the pioneer residents of the town of Cato, passed away Wednesday at his home after a brief illness.

He came to Manitowoc from Norway in the spring of 1857 with his parents settling in the town of Rapids.

In 1876 he was married to Theodora Larson of this city and they resided here for two years then 22 years in the town of Rapids and for the past 25 years at Oslo, in the town of Cato, being engaged in farming. His wife died a little over a year ago.

Eight children survive as follows:
Herman Halverson, Shawano; Thorwald, this city; Monroe, Rapids; Arthur and Oscar, Cato;
Stanley, this city; Henrietta, Cato; Mrs. Agnes Cegilski, Cato.

There are sixteen grandchildren.

Burial will take place Saturday at 1:30 from the home and from there to the Jerpen church. Rev. A.O. White officiating.
